Aviva bonus accelerator

My son (18) has recently gone with Aviva on their bonus accelerator, trouble is i have heard things such as other companies don't take them as full years as the policy only runs for 9 months or so and that Aviva wont give you as good a deal when it comes around to renewing and such
. So i was wondering if this is true and are there other insurance comapnies that would accept them as full no claims?
