Anyone watching this? I think the first two eps have been ace.
I asked SWMBO if she fancied a 'holiday' like that. The answer was no.

Anybody know what tents they are using, seem to be single skin.....fook that I have a bivvy for night fishing and that has more weather protection than the ones used in this show!

flights and accommodation aren't too bad, it's the food and drink that will cripple the wallet.
£12 for a sandwich! Excursions are also very expensive, go to Canada.

In the winter yes! unfortunately it takes 3 times as long to get there.
I suppose you can have a winter holiday anywhere with snow in the Northern Hemisphere,
I'm not sure about the frequency of Northern lights in Canada or the best place to see them.

I don't mind how far away, as I love flying. I've read the winter in Norway/Lapland goes on until about April time, and average temperatures go down to about Average -15'c.. I'd love that biggrin

I had Xmas in Canada in 2005... I have never seen so much snow... We landed in Montreal, and sat on the runway for 10 minutes while the snow ploughs carved a route for us to the terminal... I was like a big kid again!

I found Norway a wetter cold, gets into your bones, I didn't like it even though it was -10.
In Banff that was -20 and didn't seem too bad.
In Norway I just couldn't keep warm.
Still, they are both stunning places to visit.

Can you camp out in the snow in these places? I want to try that for a few nights and the rockclimbing/absailing and stuff would be cool but I wouldn't be too upset without them I don't think.

I want to do some snowmobiling too.

5 months or so to save..

Are you sure? but if that's your bag I'm sure you can, somewhere!
It might be a lonely experience though.
I know someone who stayed at an ice hotel, not for me either.

Overall I preferred Canada.

I was planning the Ice Hotel last year but by the time I had decided to do it, it had melted hehe

Yeah, really want to camp out for a few nights in the snow smile

Has anyone bene watching this riveting show? I loved the swim under the ice, I keep thinking would I be able to physically compete. That would be the hardest one for me, since I don't like being underwater, plus the temp. That is the sort of stuff Royal Marines do!

Yep! Loved that.. I'd so love to do all that stuff they done. It would be quite a good money earner if you could set up a week with all that stuff.

I did think Gavin would win, but Marcus done well.

Got round to watching this last night and looks like a nice varied bunch of celebs.

Wasn't sure about Paddy McGuinness presenting but his silly humour soon won me over.

Especially when, seeing John Thompson jump out of the icy sea after a short swim, coming out with a quip that he must have got cold feet and then proceeding to fist bump his co-presenter. Childish but made me chuckle.

Looks like ex-army & ex-copper Rav Wilding will be the man to beat.
