iPhone / Sat Nav mount

Probably been covered many times before but search didn't reveal much...

What solutions are people using to mount a phone or Sat Nav ??

I currently have an iPhone and a Garmin Sat Nav...but am considering buying the tomtom app for the iPhone to "de-clutter"

The sucker based mounts don't like the curved screen at the side and block my field of view if placed in the centre at the bottom of the screen... the only place it seems to work is up next to the rear view mirror but that's not ideal and use of a charging cable isn't practical.

Any suggestions or pics welcome.

Carved mine from a block of rigid foam as a trial couple of years back and been using it ever since.



There are a couple of bits of steel angle potted into the foam with silicone sealant for the self tappers to screw into.



The screws are not tight letting the cradle sit on the dash top without falling off.



There's also a bit of black Velcro on the flat bit next to the screen vent.



Looping the cable lets the door open and you'd be surprised your foot goes nowhere near it when getting in and out.



Just the right position to touch the screen without taking your hand off the wheel.

that's the position I had in mind so I can use a power/charge cable.

I presume the foam wedges between the screen and dash top to prevent it ending up on your lap when accelerating?

I use an Arkon suction mount for my iPhone which has Tom Tom loaded.

In the process of wiring this in which presents a standard dock connector to the phone but provides power and also connects a line out signal to the head unit aux in.

Yes, but therse some velcro at the base of the winscreen on the vent panel just to be sure.

Hi - what little help this might be, but I have another solution, just no pictures at the mo!!!!!

Bear with me and I will post pics tomorrow - it is a neat and out of sight solution that works through the bluetooth of the stereo and gives great a nd clear reception. I have Co-pilot on my iPhone and it is superb.
