Does anyone know where to get a decent but reasonably priced oil filter cutter?

If it did fuel filters as well it would be a bonus.

Does no one cut open their oil filters and inspect them?

I bought one of these, a bit more money than the average filter but should pay back in a few oil changes.

Very nice filter I have to say.

Just curious where did you get it, what’s micron size and how much was it?

mmm nice Graham but..

nice until you want to change the filter..

You get covered in oil getting the element out...... then where do you put the old element all covered in dark oil(if you wrap in rag you will be supprised how much oil is soaked in it!) also you have to empty the bowl and wash it out as well..

We use those on modern cars and wish we could have the old screw on type again. unsrew, tip oil oit, keep upright and throw away

I've done an oil change already, just carefully remove from the car and drain into the oil can with the rest of the sump oil, dismantle the filter in a bowl and inspect the canister for 'bits' and then clean with petrol, then drain bowl back into the oil can and reassemble, fit back to car.....take oil to the tip (still to do!)
Job done.........admittedly a bit more mucky than just replacing a new filter.
