What do we think of the st220?

The v6 petrol? Looking at ditching my 318 and want an exec size car but something fast. Im a little put off by FWD high powered cars however.

Any experiances with this or any other suggestions of something newer than 2004? Budget is tight and dont want another E46 BMW (as thats one of the popular suggestions i see).

Considered an A4 but the only decent one which is affordable appears to be the 2.0t and they seem hard to get hold of.

Don't use the PH search. It, erm, doesn't.

Just use Google, type in your phrase and add 'Pistonheads' to the end. Works a treat

Mondeo and A4 are a too small to be considered executive.

Sounds like you want a sporty midsized saloon,

whats your budget? I would be looking as the lexus IS as a good alternative to the german stuff

There are a few threads on the ST220 (which you will discover if the PH search ever works again!).

If the FWD thing puts you off, you should also consider the Jag X-Type 3.0. This is AWD and has a slightly improved version of the ST220 engine. (231 bhp vs 220 bhp)

The earlier X-Types are permanent AWD with 60% of torque to rear wheels.

Official figures for the Manual 3.0 X-Type are 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds which will see off most hot hatches (Excluding the Focus RS, GTi Edition30, etc).

Ive seen a nice E90 330i for 10k, going to see what the stealer offers me in part ex. Is black which is bad and its dont about 60k miles in 4 years.

MOndy is far bigger ad more practical than an a4.

An St220 Estate would be worth a look. Big, comfy, pratical and pretty cheap as chips to buy and run.
