Croix des Bardes 2006

Before I open the 2nd bottle to ensure that the 1st was not a fluke... this gets a big thumbs up!

From memory, was 50% off or possibly 25% at worst but IMHO, a total bargain if you like this type of wine.

Anyone else tried it?

Just thought that the initial post was pointless without this (hope it works):

£7.49 - half price apparently!

Hmmm... a review I found online said it was worth buying at £14.99.

This could be Boswellox of course, but worth checking out nevertheless.

Thanks for the tip.

I would consider buying at that price but be very careful.....

Every time I look at Tesco wines, I find something from Saturday Kitchen or another 'bargain' but at least I try not to buy for the same or more than elsewhere...

They do some cracking deals unfortunately and that drags me into my megastore occasionally. (honest - that is the only reason)

Hope that emoticon works...

I got wind of this while out with friends on Saturday evening.

Since I was planning to buy a decent bottle and a few nibbles to watch the Grand Prix on a Sunday I thought I'd give it a go - haven't had a Pomerol in years;

Very nice wine for the £7 price tag, I wouldn't feel ripped off at the full price. Felt dirty going into Tescos though.....

It was, unfortunately. The wife is away and frankly, in the shopping vs garage/motorsport time stakes, the shopping needs to be done as quickly as possible.

If anyone's planning on visiting the Leatherhead outpost of the Evil Empire, don't bother since I've just liberated their entire stock.

A trip to the local butcher has offset the guilt - £6.30 for 4 burgers. redface

However these are exceptionally good.

Had a look online and it's only a breakfast wine anyway, so the tumbler is a suitable glass.

Had a bottle of it last night and have another for this evening to make sure it was not a one off. Tasted pretty good but I felt a bit rough this morning.

I think the trick is to find a pikey one.

Leatherhead and New Malden still had stock of the half-price Rioja posted recently, some days after the posh Tesco at Brooklands had run out.

Just been to Tesco Tring and they don't have it.

Picked up a bottle of Saint Joseph instead. I'm sure it'll be lovely with some hotdogs later.

Indeed. Just returned from the Aldershot branch and it is awash with the stuff.

Bought a couple of bottles myself which I shall sample in a moment.
