Custard test - identify the car
Discussion
It's fantastic to sit in. Manages to be both roomy and cosseting. This is quite a mantra for the car.
A few details kicking about: 600BHP, 1300kg. They are frank about it being up against the 458 and GT3 not Veyron/918. The suspension is fully active, there are no anti roll bars "We are not minimising roll we are eliminating it".
Rumours of a price around £170k and a Nürburgring time in the region of 6:30.
UK to get first deliveries.

6:30? Can't believe, wish to see!
How do they suppose to eliminate the chances of rolling over to 0% when pushing it on a racetrack?
It's roll not rolling over. How do they suppose to eliminate the chances of rolling over to 0% when pushing it on a racetrack?
The "six and a half" was "in the region of", they aren't announcing a figure just yet but say they will because the first German publication to get their hands on one will do so immediately.
As an aside they said there are no plans for a race series but are already being asked by customers and expect it to happen in due course.

Woops, non-natives
so what's an anti roll bar?
Regarding lap times I would have expected a low 7min or very high 6ish time but 6:30 +/- a few seconds would be just breathtaking, looking at Paganis and Radicals and the times those achieve.

^ On a car with independant suspension, there is a solid bar linling left and right wheels. When the body of the car rolls, it twists this bar to reduce the amount that the car body rolls mid corner, in an attempt to keep a more even left /right weight split.
With active suspension, computer operated elves* push down on the outer wheel, keeping the car flatter (as the outer spring will compress less). This keeps more weight on the inner wheel, imprving ctraction / turn in / stability etc.
[/footnote]*The macLaren may not use elves. they might use somethign cleverer, like hydraulics. In my mind it;s elves though.[/footnote]

In "American" it's a sway bar. Or click here

Active suspension makes a huge difference to a cars ride and handling.
Imagine an old Bentley absorbing all the little bums and ridges on the road, having no squat under acceleration and no dive even during an emergency stop, all while being perfectly flat.
One doesn't want ones champagne spilling out of the glass whilst showing saxo's a clean pair of heels at the lights.
If you get a chance to drive something with active suspension give it a go. They truly can feel like they are defying physics.
