Why do people bother?

1995 Fiat Punto in muddy orange. Only for sale due to impending arrival of 458 Italia.

WHY THE FECK?????

It's for sale because you'd prefer the cash to the object, end of.

Offers the buyer a bit of confidence that it's not for sale due to it costing them £££'s to keep on the road.

I don't believe stuff written in car ads though.

I hate buying cars, I hate selling cars, it's annoying really because I love owning them.

Sorry, that was an extreme example, not a real advertisement. Thinking about it, if that was a real advert I'd take my hat off for the humour of it.

You can believe 'genuine reason for sale'.

Once I genuinely couldn't warrrant £800 of repairs so I offloaded it onto a dealer who should have known better. If you don't even take the oil cap off to look for mayo......

Mind you he did accuse me of being dishonest...when I didn't point out to him that he had done the trade in sums wrong £500 in my favour. Oooh - he saw me coming alright!

You sound like my mate, he sold his car with a blown head gasket to someone that literally came to look at the car and I mean just look at the outside of it from one angle then handed him the cash.

Not the same - selling a car with faults is a complex affair, it's hard enough explaining a car park ding to a layperson; take it to a professional and they have the nouse to know what to look for and the approx price for the job.

I didn't fill the gearbox with sawdust or otherwise try to hide the faults so not driving the car or checking the oil cap is down to them.
