Got cought by a scamera back in October of last year on the M74 just outside Lockerbie doing 101.1mph. Pretty obvious it was me judging by the video and I live on the south coast and couldn't be arsed to do a 800 mile round trip so pleaded guilty by post (supprised they allowed that given the speed).

Anyway it went to court last week and I was pretty supprised to get 6 points and £100 fine (no costs). I was sure I was going to get a ban as it was over 100mph so I think I got off fairly lightly...

If you had no licence, tax, MOT or insurance and killed a child whilst doing 101mph, you'd have probably got off lighter. At least that's the impression I'm getting when you hear of all these scrotes going to court and being let off.

Don't you have to be a failed asylum seeker too?

Add burglary to the charge sheet and you get 35 minutes of sitting quietly!

Sounds like justice to me. Next time I get caught speeding, I am off on a crime spree. Should help cut my sentence!

I got 6pts & £300 for 101.2 (nah boo beat you!! ) but on an 'A' road 60mph limit, so I suppose I was 'lucky' too.
(mind you I hired a solicitor - which cost more than the fine!)

However (circumstances permitting etc) it's still a fairly harsh treatment for a 'technical' offence that in most cases shouldn't result in any punishment at all.

Anyway glad to hear you avoided a ban

Should have ignored the NIp and said you or your wife/partner was driving and can't remember, or both owned up. I had a couple of NIPs for the same offence six months ago 82mph in a 50mph in Warwickshire A46 coming out of Coventry. Binned them both. No prosecution so far. I think the time is up now so I'm probably safe. Keeping fingers X'd.

Why do people own up anyway? The system would collapse if everyone had the balls to contest everything or ignore the bastards. Why are we English so honorable?

I win - I was stopped at 110, and I got a telling off.

I can beat that; I was caught at 102mph and eventually received £882.50 costs for all of my time they wasted!

I was stopped by Trafplod so couldn't really try the 'wasn't me guv' routine.

In times past though I have been stopped for (considerably ) higher speeds and received only a 'talking to' - of course this happened before speed killed.
