Disabled guaranteed interviews - how do interviewers feel?

Looks like due to my current employer for whom I'm an IT developer (lady wears a black cloak) being asses about my return to work after cancer I'm going to have to look for non professional work - office or something similar for which I'm probably horribly over qualified. Yes, I could look for similar work, but after what they've put me thru', I really just want a stress free existence going forward.

I do have a couple of disabilties - the cancer for one, depression (controlled pretty well) and diabetes. Is it worth ticking the diabled guaranteed interview box on applications that offer this option, or does it just P the company off?

It doesn't pi$$ us off - as long as you can demonstrate fully that you can do the job advertised. I'd say it's worth doing, especially if you've had a high rate of absence related to your last post - this is an ideal way to discuss it and then make the point that it's no longer an issue (if that's the case?).

IMO, given the volume of applicants out there just now, you have to look after Number 1 so use the facility if it's there for you. Good luck!

It shows yo are honest and willing to work despite your difficulties, and to be fair that's all a good employer wants.

I am guessing they will want a demonstration of your diability.....

I am not sure cancer (recovered, anyway) or diabetes even count as disabilities unless he has had some severe after effects from the cancer or his diabetes is the really severe type.

at my work i dont think they would be annoyed by it.

It usually gets a disabled person through to the interview stage if they meet the minimum essential criteria, so yes, you have to be able to do the job.

The DDA still applies to people who have had cancer in the past, and depression is usually covered too.
