Looking for track thrills with no worries !!

I am currently looking for a car to fling around a couple of track days and the ring. What I am looking for though is quite specific and I need to draw on previous owners knowledge for guidance, so thats were you good people come in to play to help me make a informed decision (thank you in advance)
Ok so the requirements, the car must fall bellow the £2000 mark, have a reasonable bhp/ton ratio and be fairly reliable. However above and beyond all of these requirements it must be a car where in even at higher mileage's it does not need to much 'sorting' i.e replacement of suspension, brakes, drivetrain etc.. for example I have considered a BMW E36 328i Coupe but then decided against it because of the aforementioned reasons; it would need to much work to turn it into a reliable track car.
So there were have it, my requirements and I am looking to buy ASAP so please feel free to post links to adverts

MX5, MR2 NA, 3 series, or how about a 190e?

3 series would need work so unfortunately that is out, the 190e is a interesting alternative but im not sure how the mechanicals would stand up on track?

So you have a max budget of 2K, it's got to be reasonable performance, reliable even at higher mileages and need minimal sorting - personally I think you'll struggle and the BMUU e36 options 325 or 328 would be all I would dare to suggest - I drove a relatively cheap one recently in track and I was very impressed with how it went and handled as a stripped out and two bucket seats thrown in ex road car

MX5s are VERY cheap on consumables at track days. The absolute bog standard brakes on a mk1 1.8 will happily do a full day on track without any overheating drama. Theyr'e very good on tyres too.

This is true. My mate in his 350z was miffed that I spent 30mins thrashing around on track while he'd have to stop after 10 with cooked brakes.

I'd look seriously at the MK1 MR2 as well though. I preferred it on track.

Bog standard brakes on a Mk1 1.6 will do that too. They really are incredibly hard to beat as a cheap track car. Mk1 MR2 also very good as has been said, but harder to find one in decent condition now.
