Hey Guys,

Thinking of chopping in a watch and this one has a small scratch on the crystal. How can I remove it or are there any places that will do this for me? Its a Tag and I can't be bothered to send it to Tag to be done. Well I can be bothered but would like to know how to do it if its going to save me a fortune. I've asked in a few jewelers and they've all said no they wouldn't touch it.

scratchchin

i'll give Tag a call tomorrow and see what the damage is. Sounds like I'd mess things up.

Not sure how it happened. I noticed it after about a month of having it. I've clouted it really badly since and not so much as a smudge.

sapphire is second in hardness to diamond - its nigh on impossible to scratch except with a diamond - has wifeys wedding/engagement ring been near it.

I'm sure somone will now prove me wrong about the hardness thing, but even so its pretty hard, they usually shatter before they scratch.

No the watch is her diamond ring laugh

Seriously have no idea how it got there. I'm inclined to say it was there when I bought it because I don't remember clanging it that badly. But then I'm sure I'd have noticed it in the shop.

On glance it looks like a spec of dust or something on the crystal but when you run a nail over it you can feel a very slight indent. Its barely noticeable to be fair but as I want to trade it or sell it on I want to avoid the "its got a scratch I'll give you £50 for it" comments.

Just spoke to them and they have to have the ref number in order to log it. They can't give me a figure over the phone. That and they'd have to replace the crystal.

I saw a rather incredible post on another forum. Bloke polished out a scotch in 25 minutes with. 8 different grades of some sort of cutting/polishing cloth.

It was nothing short of miraculous. Will look for it when not on my iPhone.
