Help please?

I bought some grips a couple of months ago and have just got round to fitting them but i notice that when it rains water gets in them and they slide off, causing me to have a big accident. This means that everytime i go out, which is every day, i end up standing in my garden with kitchen roll drying the grips. Also i didnt manage to get them on the gears either so i ended up cutting them down which im not too bothered about. Is there any special glue or anything that i can use to keep them on the handlebars?

Also im looking into new tyres as mine are very bald and i dont really know what the good makes are or anything so is there any suggestions for that? I think it says on the old tyres 26 x 1.95

And another thing. The gear cogs that are attached to the pedals wont change gear at any time and im not sure why? Can anybody help?

Oh and another thing, ive managed to break my disc brakes by smacking them with a spanner (dont ask) and it all sprung apart and i managed to bend the long screw thing that seems to be attached to the brake pads to tighten or loosen them and ive lost the spring that went over the the long screw. Its the back disc brake by the way. Is there anywhere i can find these online?

Last thing i think, the wire on my bike computer snapped when i swerved my bike to avoid an oncoming car (i wouldnt ask about that either!), am i able to take it all back to Tescos (Yes i know) and get a replacement.

As you can kind of tell, i know absolutely nothing about biking and my bike was only £120 so any help would be appreciated.

Bike grips - try some hairspray - as for cutting them down, sounds like you bought standard grips but have gripshift gears, ideally should have bought specific shorter grips for the purpose but not really a problem

Tyres - If you bought a cheap bike do you want good quality tyres or just some budget ones? Good makes are many, Continental, Schwalbe, Bontrager. Specialized, WTB, etc etc etc Get recommendations from the shop you purchase them from

Front gear changing issues - could be many things - ideally need a bike shop to take a look.

Rear cable operated disc brake should be available form any decent bike shop, Clarks do a reasonable one for £25, Shimano is more like £50

Cycle computer - buy a wireless one and it won't happen again

I always use the wife's hairspray for holding the grips on have done for years and have never had any problems.

Probably cost £20 - £30 plus bits to get that lot sorted at a bike shop.

Or you could buy Zenn and the art of bike maintenance (I think it's called) and a bike tool set and set about it your self. It'll cost more in the short-term, but 'give a man a fish' and all that.

Course I actually love bike maintance.
