What's your dream bike?

For me it's got to be a Santa Cruz Nomad or Blur LT. $6717 and $6603 respectively...

I've tried both 2008 models around the Lookout in Bracknell and they are both stunning bikes. The Nomad was definitely the best one at tackling the drops but the Blur LT is the better climber which is probably more ideal where I live in Austria.

None the less, I would love to try them both out here in Austria.

Will be a similar spec to the Nomad (a great bike I must agree) in terms of travel etc. I'm aiming for something that works like a Lapierre Spicy; good on climbs, blindingly good on the descents.

My dream bike would be a ceepo frame, a set of standard lightweight wheels, finished off with a Shimano Di2 groupset and SRM chainset.
Finished bike ~ €13,000.

Currently, a Dave Yates Super Randonneur - doesn't have to be silly spec. I'd be happy with 9speed tiagra and dura ace bar end shifters. I'd want as much nice nitto kit as I could afford, mind, and a ltd ed Brooks saddle would be nice. Ooh, and a Son hub and an edelux light up front. I don't know enough about Argos to covet them, and a little too much about Roberts and Mercian to really lust after either of those.

Finances allowing, I'll get a poverty spec one before I am forty. A tarted up one will have to wait til I am older.

Not quite. I could probably afford the SC but it's something I simply cannot justify.

No, just gone on the copious and extremely positive feedback that all Nicolai owners effuse. I'm hoping said enthusiam is not a misplaced emotion, to asuage the guilt of having spent so much on their ride...

I've been merrily buggering up bits of the Stumpy since my last post and the current toll of damage is:

1. (second) Headset loose.
2. Rear shock bushing knackered, again.
3. Play in rear trianlge bushings.
4. Front wheel bearing.

I'm less than 13 stone with a full hydration pack and I don't ride stupidly 'big'. I'm told (and am hoping) that something of the calibre of the Nicolai will fare much better. I'm taking no chances - there will be a lot of Chris King kit on there!

Here's the ideas for the spec so far, in case people want to pick apart/drool [delete as appropriate]:

Why the need to justify? If you really want it, just get it. Life would be very boring if we had to justify everything. For instance, I can't justify the purchase of a Renovo wooden road frame, but you can bet your arse I'll get one.

I've already done the "bugger it, I'll get one anyway" thing so many times and usually it's landed me in hot-water in some way or other...

My Dream bike doesn't exist.

It's a ti framed relaxed geo flat bar road bike with an 11 speed hub built into the Bottom Bracket and a carbon belt gates drive.

I don't understand why our current pinnacle of bike drive-train still relies on either internal or external rotating mass on the rear wheel.

I know honda had a shot at something a while ago, but we can't be that far from something like this, hell even the Factor001 Garlick posted about still has a dura-ace setup.
