After the wedge standing around for a period I fired it up to be met with a very noisy rattle, it cleared after awhile but it was top end, basically sticky tappet. I had contemplated an engine flush but I was a bit wary of the effect on the hyd tappets but did some research and went for it. Heyho a drian, flush, oil/filter change with some tappet conditioner added and the engine is now turbine like and no tappet noise which after 5 V8's is new to me as I always thought rather naively that they should be a bit cammy !!!. Idle is smoother and the engine is much more responsive, a much happy bunny now, just need to locate this whislting noise from the front end!

Need to sort out that exhaust note and make it louder that way you wont here any whislting from the front.
Glad things are sorted see you on Fri.
ps - what tappet cond did you use.
john.
Its had a slight adjustment, took out the wadding in the centre box, too much, then split the box half full bore, half wadding with centre flange to hold it in place so a few decibels more so should get at least 2nd noisest wedge at the next BBWF !!!!Glad things are sorted see you on Fri.

Wynn's, I think a good flush was the key and the tappet conditioner was just the icing on the cake so to speak, truely amazed at the results and all for an 1 hrs effort.
