Muppets and TVRs = Disaster !

During the strong winds the other weekend, some roof tiles managed to land on the windscreen of the Griff which is bad enough in itself but things went from bad to worse.
The windscreen needed to be replaced and as I was nervous about it I called the insurers for clarification and to see if they'd let me take it to a main dealer. The outcome was that I was to take it in to one of their affliliated companies who would be able to do the job properly and without any difficulty or damage to the Griff.
Somewhat reassured I called the guys nearest to my work in Aston, based on convenience and also because they used to do work for Team Central (when in business), so already had experience of working on TVRs.
The Griff went in Monday and here's the list of problems post fitting - no particular order of importance as I'm pi55ed off with all of it:
scratched leather trim on door post
scratched paintwork on wings and bonnet
Vusafe part fitted NOT TVR (despite being assured it would be proper TVR replacement)
large, deep scratch on replacement windscreen
screen does not fit properly
rubber seal covers glass by barely 1mm in places
rubber seal hanging off car in places
rubber seal has scratches and dinges in it
rubber seal has a wave effect across bottom of screen
car came back filthy inside and out despite being cleaned on Sunday
can see where old screen was ripped from leather trim across top of screen
- doors more difficult to shut - rubber trim is pushing against them
gap between driver's door window and roof
roof doesn't fit properly - big step up from screen to roof
I'm sure I've missed things off and no doubt FFG will be able to add to the list.
They have assured me that they're going to put it right at no cost to me, but I'm still waiting...
We're going to Donnington at the weekend and I'm embarrassed for the Griff because she just looks awful

oh dear! I've just dropped mine off for a new windscreen with Autoglass amd I hope I don't get the same result! They've sourced TVR parts (apparently) but the first windscreen to arrive had a fault which would lead to water ingres between the layers and the second is scratched, so fingers crossed they'll get a good one tomorrow and fit it well!

In my experience (of cerbs) this particular fault, leading to a creeping white shade (of delamination) at the bottom of the screen, seems to be an indicator of a genuine TVR screen.

To be fair to the guys at autoglass, they said that they'd seen TVR's like that and that if the windscreen was of a decent quality/finish in the first place, then even a badly fitted screen would not have delaminated glass. With any luck, they'll find me a good one so I can avoid that issue in future.
I can confirm everything Paul V has said. My Cerb is going up to Blackpool in the next couple of weeks for a complete and total repaint and total leather re-trim following a disasterous repair at an insurance approved TVR repair bodyshop.

Edited to add that the full leather re-trim is due to the leather being cut all across the upper and lower dashboards on my Cerb resulting from the windscreen being replaced.
My car was returned to me in a total mess following some stone chip damage repairs!!!
Hopefully everything will be sorted out as the 3rd party insurers have already paid me to get all the work done, plus........something for all the inconvenience and hassle I had to go through at the time.

As they didn't call me with an update yesterday, I'm going to call them today. I'm so disappointed with the poor workmanship I could
They have said that they'll sort everything out for me, but I remain to be convinced - only time will tell I guess.
They've said they have a sister company called AutoRestore who they propose to use to sort out the leather problems. I have no idea how good they are - anyone have any experience of them?
As yet they haven't said who they propose to use to sort out the paintwork problems.
Do I have to give them an opportunity to rectify the problems or can I insist on it being sorted at a place of my choice? Advice would be much appreciated guys...

Just had my screen replaced by Autoglass this week. No problems, finish is better than the last on and it seems to be a genuine TVR replacement. My previous screen underwent massive delamination and had white up to 3" thick in some places. Nice new screen and they even fitted new wiper blades for free.
Although I was paranoid and checked the mileage before I left it there.

I thought it was covered for 'accidental damage' or 'vandalism' which delamination isn't. However, Autoglass said that you'd have a strong case against the manufacturer as it occurs through faults in the glass.

I called the insurance company as soon as I got home on Monday. They weren't much help really, other than saying to talk to Autoglass on Tuesday morning. They person I had spoken to the week before, expressing my worries about taking it in, hadn't even made a note on our policy to say that I was going to be making a windscreen claim!
They have given me a number of their windscreen department and I'm going to call them today before I call Autoglass...

Don't bank on it. Porsche 924/944 windscreens do it, too.
The delamination occurs from water getting between the layers of glass. You'd imagine that would happen if there is a gap (due to bubbled/malshaped glass), and should't occur if they are perfectly formed and bonded together. Exposure to moisture on the glass edge would allow the gap to be exploited, so it's probably a combination of the two. However, if you got an immaculate BMW (say) screen and placed it in a bath of water, do you think it'd delaminate?
