Most people on this thread are in the top 1% of earners in this country. I'm sure most of us are involved in buying resource/commodities from the market, adding value(or not), and selling back to the market.

Why the anger at the success of this particular transaction?

Good on him/her I say.

Not sure why people think making a large profit is a bad thing surely thats the main aim of ANY company?,
If i was the dealer making 100k i wouldn't be thinking "Oooo bugger" i'd be woohoo.

My friend is actually selling this exact Diablo at Bob Forstner. Why £269k- because they can. £269k is some loose change for some of his clients, if they drive the car and like the thing they will buy it. Simple.

My mate who works at HR Owen Ferrari says people come in and buy a 458 Italia like a record- another to add to the collection. And if the car does not sell here then it can just go over to Bob Forstner in Germany, so they can afford to be slightly ambitious with the pricing.

Very nice and professional people at the showroom so I cannot complain about this dealer. smile

This sort of margin is more normal than you think.

Most designer clothes are absolutely unreal (different topic I know), I have represented an unnamed company in the past that had a range manufactured in china for between roughly £9 - £45, by the time these were on sale in Harrods the sticker price was £1200 to £4995. Literally dozens of women pre-ordered the whole range, some 60 pieces. A year later it would all be in dress agencies and charity shops.

This Diablo is a bargain in comparison, if only I`d sold more clothes I might have been able to afford it!

So, if you had purchased this car and needed\wanted to sell it and the market dictated it was worth £269000 would you be a good Christian and sell it for the same or maybe less than you paid?

On a serious note if you buy cheap and sell cheap dosn't mean everyone else has to.
Perhaps if you thought like the dealer did you would buy 1 cheap sell for profit and buy 2 cheap.

Well done the dealer ! He spotted the car at auction and done the groundwork , outbid everyone else on the day with quite a bit of his money , he took the risk and made the effort , saw some potential and if he sells will get his reward , if it,s too much it won,t sell anyhow , if it do sell and I reckon it will in my opinion the buyer could well make a profit too when he sells . Good business if you ask me . You gotta sell a hell of a lot of burgers to make 100k .

Profit has nothing to do with it.Its a question of how much is it worth?

To me £260k is pushing it a bit.....maybe alot.

my opinion is hes payed correct money for it.

will he sell it at that?.....who knows.

That is probably definitely the most illiterate thing I have ever read on here.
