Hi

My dad has decided to hang up his helmet.

He's got an X reg (82?) RD350LC that he's thinking of selling but doesn't have a clue what to ask for it. Looking on the 'net prices are anywhere between £1K and £4K.

Can anyone offer guidance on how much it's roughly worth?

It's white with the blue transfers. Has done about 20K miles and has got a current MOT.
Using my limited bike knowledge I know that the frame and engine numbers don't match. This indicates a replacement engine at some point? Correct?

Thanks for any help smile

Are the frame and engine no meant to be the same on these? Because my experience with bikes is that the frame and engine numbers are different, unless the OP means mismatched as in not as per the V5?

Even if it has had a new engine does that really detract much from the value/deirability?

cheers for the links y2blade

It was a while back I checked but from memory it has the 4L0 frame number but a 4L1 engine number. Is this really a big deal? Will he have trouble selling it?... or is it only on the mint examples priced at £3K and up that the original matching numbers are required?

I'm thinking it's worth about a grand so advertise it for £1250?

OK, I've learnt something here, actually two things as I've also learnt that some people will pay £4k for an old 2-smoker... hehe

I currently have 4 TZR's. They are all in mint condition.

When you refer to them as mint, we are talking about polo's, aren't we?

It's of interest at a grand-ish, but much too far away. Is it more difficult to sell bikes/cars the more "remote" you are (I just mean, as in remote from the centre of the country, not tucked up a track in the highlands!)

I wouldnt say very cheap, I would say a good price. You could probably get more on Ebay but have to deal with the tumbling tumbling dickweeds who frequent it.

This is not a for sale ad.

We are just after a realistic valuation. Somebody local expressed an interest in buying it recently, but wouldn't give a firm offer.

Just checking he's not letting it go for well below market value.

Cheers smile

As above, those matching frame/engine numbers are all important, IF he can hold onto it, I would do, nice ones are now fetching 4K, a huge rise in just 18 months when you could pick a good one up for 2-2.5K..

parts are fetching silly money as well, if its all intact and the finish or the metal work/plastics are good, you'd get more than a grand breaking it, which would be a bit of a shame ..
