Understanding that I am a Noble virgin, can you expect to hear the Dump valves in a Stock M400, if mine are working they don't sound as loud as Nobility are decribing here on the forum. Also is it normal when on WOT and changing up fast between gears, for there to be a bit (1/2 second) of lag before they start to pull hard again ? seems a little odd to me, but then never had petrol multi turbo car before i.e. my last performance car was DAX Cobra Rover 3.9 5spd, with weber 4 barrel, stage 3 heads and H214 Cam (nowhere near as quick as the Noble, but did'nt have slight lag between gear changes).

Cheers

No - a standard M400 doesn't have one smile

David,

Thanks for the reply, So are dump valves an add-on on all Nobles or are they fitted as standard to M12's or others, if not why do people fit them ?

I think in general people have them fitted with the pro alloy hard pipe kit.
They are not really needed on standard M12s, but if you like all the noise they make they are easy to fit. In a modified M12 they do make a difference I have one but hate the noise so have moved it further back where its not so noticeable in the cabin.

They save the bearings in the turbos by stopping the compressor surge when you shut the throttle. The popular valve to use on nobles seems to be from Forge and if you don't like the noise, you can buy a recirc version and vent it back into the snorkel.

noble turbos are simply too small to require a dump valve, there is no reliability reason to fit them either.... wont reduce lag either.

very large turbos running high boost need them though! Im having to fit one on my single turbo frown

only fit them if you love the sound smile

That makes me feel better, after frigging around with my dump valve and then the turbo seals giving out!!!

I fitted a dump valve to my M400 it did make a considerable differance at high RPM gear changes 4th to 5th to 6th.
Especially 5th to 6th there was noticeable lag when changing up on the limit, the BOV reduced this, a hard pipe kit doesn't hurt either, if your not sure open your rear clam blip the throttle from idle and watch the sillicone hose to the throttle body collapse with the vacuum.

Edited to mention; Make sure you have a baseball cap sitting on your head at a jaunty angle, sunglasses and a bling crucifix can also help with your image when deliberately short shifting down the High St wink

I have recently put the Pro alloy intercooler in and was under the clam and noticed the pipe collapsing, as a temp fix I put 2 jubilee clips at about a third from each end and the pipe doesnt collapse at all now.

Ok I had to look up on youtube what a dump valve sounded like.

I don't have a dump valve installed, but I get this whoosh noise which sounds just like it when I accelerate and release the accelerator to change gear.

What is this noise then?
