What filters do you use on AutoTrader?

Assuming will all use the make, model etc so search for just the cars we are interested in.

As trader when comparing my stock to other similar cars for sale, to check how competitive my price is, I never use the distance or price filters, as I want as broad a comparison as possible.

However, so I know I am only comparing like with like, I always use the age, mileage, and keywords. I use the Keywords feature to only search for a specific model that is the same as mine, or if my car has some unique features like leather, nav, or sunroof for example.

I guess most buyers are more interested in the distance and price, so I am asking to this to find out.

I'd really like a few extra tick boxes that all sellers have to complete to make narrowing down a selection easier especially on cars where there's 1,000's of one particular model for sale at any one time. EG:-

Leather seats, or not

Interior basic colour scheme, eg "tan" to eliminate search misses when tan has been variously described as biscuit or tobacco etc

Sat Nav, yes/no, so as to catch search misses when its been described as just "satnav" or "satellite Navigation"

A/C, to avoid problems with "air-con" / AC / "Climate-control" etc

…and so on.


Plus, I'd like to be able to specific an age range min/max and not just a maximum age that includes every single car below it right up till new.

.. and despite the recent makeover of the autotrader website, they need to seriously take a look at how much more crap and slow it now is than ever it was in the past.
