And do low mieage each year so budget tyres will do nice and soft that do 10,000 max?

Totally agree, but amount of mileage i do, by the time i need to renew sonething else will have come out.

Bought some 17" wheels,so my Imolas which have been refurbished and have Toyos on that have only done approx 500 miles will be up for sale soon.

They will be some of the best up for sale, for people who want the original wheel set up,unfortunately i like the larger wheel look.

What wheels did you go for?remember you need at least 8j for the 245 rear tyres.

I take it that is the off set?

The ones i have are 7.5,does this mean i will need a spacer then?

No 8j is the rim width, you will be pushing it with a 7.5j rim.

front is ET25 and rear ET 33 but you can get
away with murder as there is alot of space underneath ..You could go for 225/45/17 on the rear..Try this calulator,I would
not recommend a spacer on these cars..

ET is offset
J is rim width

http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html

245/40/17 (245 is tyre width) (45 is 45%of the 245 wall height) 17is tyre diameter

Jesus Daz??
Why is 7.5 worse than 8...thought it would be the oter way round?

These wheels came oof a Griff originally?

245 is wider than 225 so a wider wheel rim J width is required.

look at the rim width calculator

Only problem is the diameter will be 6mm larger than the 245 set up and about 3mm larget than the standard set up you have..Some people complain the wall height looks a little odd..

Some tyre suppliers refuse to fit a 245 on a 7.5 rim

Yes, as long as your wheel offsets (ET) are OK.

what wheels have you gone for?I purchased four Pro race 1.2 including tyres fitted and balanced including fitting kit and insurance approved locking nuts for just over 700 quid...Sold my old wheels for 350 so it worked
out not to bad.Demon tweaks supply alot of wheels for these cars so they supply the correct off sets.If you dont like the writing on the rim you can pay a bit more and get them from A.C.T or Silverstone performance and they come with out the writing on the rim.You can go for 17 all round or 17 front 18 rear but the rear tyres are more expensive and some people complain of a harsh ride.

I'm not sure what principle you mean but I know what you're getting at and I wonder how you ended up with a choice of 215.

The Griff was launched with a 215 tyre but they soon became rare in 15" so TVR fitted 205s. Then everyone wanted wider rubber so TVR fitted 225f/245r. Then the Chim was launched as a rebodied Griff but on taller tyres so the 205 was used. Then some smart alec dreamt up the 205/225 PAS stuff which most people buy into.

In short fit what you want.

I have the option of putting the wheels on with existing worn 245 rear and 215 front to find out so thats what i'll do and report back.

Already agreed with Daz that 225 are required on the rears, just now need to decide on front
