City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Studio Photography
Discussion
Has anyone done this 30 week course? Its running at a local-ish college and I'm considering whether its wort it, challenging enough or its been designed for 16-18 year olds.
The course bumph - This course will introduce you to studio photography, including both portraiture and still life. It will include setting up, taking photographs in a studio setting and dismantling. There is the option for both traditional darkroom and digital photography within this module.
This evening course is ideal for those people with a keen interest in studio photography. It is suitable for students with some previous experience. Students should have access to a single lens reflex camera film or digital) and will get the opportunity to experience portraiture and still life photography. The course is assessed through photographic assignments.
Course Length - 1 year part-time (3 hours per week on Thursday evenings)

Progression - National Certificate or National
Diploma.

its £450 which the co will pay £100 towards and it gets me a student card for cheap s/w. but without wishing to sound arrogant I probably could pick up what I don't know in less than 90hrs / £350. What's this gentleman's club you speak of?
Ah, BIPP (need to be a pro) and SWPP... wasn't it Oscar Wilde or Marx that said he didn't want to join any club that has standards low enough for him to join...
Anyway having FRAeS and being fleeced every year for nowt and having to sort-of keep it for my job I have a jaundiced view of these societies actual worth/value. Wish I'd thought of it first though! Fantastic business model!!!

I did level 2 Progression Award in Photography before going on to do level 3 Certificate in Photography and Photo Imaging. My experience was that level 2 gave a really good foundation of the basics. From what I've seen of your images I think level 2 might be a bit too basic for you. Why not give the college a call and talk to one of the tutors. They should be able to give you a better idea of the course content and level.
