Beeb are saying the grounded ones are awaiting modification, the important ones are still flying -

There were the same "teething problems" with the Tornado escape system.

I was "privileged" to go and "recover" the the remains of the first one to have a successful double ejection, followed by recovery of the the infamous A-10 bunter (we never did find the fin but it's amazing how far the actions of the mauser cannons went ).

I doubt there will be anything actually "wrong" with the system in isolation, but operational experience will dictate modification to enhance survivability.

I wouldn't be to quick to finger the Spanish Air Force. Remember the poor Nav whose seat top latch wasn't engaged and the seat fell out during a flight test?
