In an earlier thread this year I mentioned my plans to try Pirelli's PZero Corsa. Well, I've ordered them and they'll be going on the car Saturday morning. I'll post my first impressions here over the weekend. They'll get a real try out at Donnington on 22 April.

Can't wait

Not going to ask about the actual price, but how much more expensive are they, compared to S-02s?

And what are the tyres that are coming off?
Thanks,
Sean

I'm running Toyo's at the moment. Not sure what the Bridgestones or other major brands come in at price wise. The Pirellis are costing me £200 more for the full set than I paid nearly a year ago for a set of Toyo's and I got a pretty good price on the Toyo's! I feel that's not a bad premium to pay for a tyre with a reputation for all out performance. Especially considering what I've invested in other areas of the car. I'll know if it's £200 well spent soon. Certainly folk I've spoken to about the tyre rave about it.

Bit "after the horse has bolted" but were you not tempted by Dunlops? TVR seem to be putting these on the new Typhon/440R. The reason seems to be because they are rated for 200mph (plus)

I was tempted by the Dunlops but when I approached Dunlop at the AutoSport show their sales guys were useless and couldn't tell me anything about the tyre! Pirelli on the other hand were very helpful. I spoke to several folk on the subject and the Corsa kept coming out top for dry performance and actually not being near lethal in the wet. Besides which whats good for the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale and Porsche GT3 RS is good for me.

Oooh yes,

Let us know what they're like. I fancy getting a set for my car but I fear they don't do them in my size (275/35 ZR19), where did you get them?

Apparently the toyos are a very good tyre but wear rates are quite high because it is a soft compound, although this is not so much of a problem with a light car like the cerbie.

I was tempted to get some Michelin Pilot sport cups but like you say, they're lethal in the wet.

I think the 360 runs a 285/35ZR19 rear in the Corsa System tyre. Can you squeeze that on?

Used to run standard (non Corsa) P-Zeros on the Elise (including lots of track fun) - found them to be quite good for straight line traction, but not great in the wet/for cornering. Ended up with P-Zeros on the rear, but S-02s were much better on the front. Probably of no use to you!

They don't fit! The fronts looked like they would be OK but the rears were huge. Over 20mm wider than the Toyo and no chance they were going to clear the wheel arch. Not only that but they didn't look happy on the 8.5inch rim either. So, send 'em back and try the Dunlops I suppose.
