Compressing Gas Struts for doors?

The gas struts we have just don't quite fit. We've checked them out with Ultima and they are the right ones, but the need to be compressed a few mm to fit them in place.

Brute force ain't doing it - any suggestions?

Move the mounting bracket, as it's probably alittle to close ( not welded in the right place ) not herd of that one before.
You could possably die the end of the cylinder rod if you want to, but that makes it no standard.
Your choice..

Check that the hinges are going full travel. The pin that takes the end of the strut was slightly proud on mine preventing it from passing through the hinge frame.
If this is not the problem then look closely at the hinge. It may be possible to clearance some edges so that the hinge travels a little further. It may be all that's needed.

I think you'll find its a canam they are having trouble with.... and I can confirm they are an absolute pain in the ass.

basically they touch the body near the alloy removable plate and are almost impossible to get them in possition inside the pod and then comress them an inch to do up....

Only advice I can offer is perseverence, or get the factory to do it.

But your welcolm to come round and have a look at how mine are fitted it that helps.

Thanks for the advice. Finally sorted it. We moved the balljoint right to the end of the bracket (rather than centred) and just managed to fit!
