Hi Guys, just got a query with regards to the speedo drive gear and housing. Basically the gearbox I bought has an empty hole where the drive gear, housing and gubbins should be.
As the car will be used primarily on track and up hills I dont need the speedo, as can just use my gps one if entirely necessary. Also the bits seem to be impossible to get hold of even if I did want them as dont think they make them anymore.

I was wanting to get a blanking plug machined up, that i could fit the normal oil seals to, to stop my lovely new gearbox oil trickling out. So I was wondering if anyone knew the dimensions that the plug would need to be, then I can get my mate to machine one up on his cnc lathe biggrin thanks Eddy

why not just measure the hole ?

or if you arent actually using it. a mechanical or electronic sender unit will suffice.

[quote=stevieturbo]why not just measure the hole ?

because i have just got out of hospital so cant really walk, let alone riggle about under the car. I was just trying to think of something useful to do in the mean time, until i'm allowed to work on the car again.
I did think of your idea of using a sensor as a plug but on the rimmer bros website, they all say discontinued??? so dont know where on earth to get one?

Get a dead speedo cable and cut the end off. take the centre out and plug the hole.

contact Jim Robinson, username jrv8 over on the v8 forum. I think he might even sponsor part of it. He will have what you need.
