Hello all,

As you may have read TVR SLAG is having some problems with the electrics on his Cerb. First the Battery went, only Six months old, then the 'Big' fuse blew and the the Ignition module died!

I dove to his place after work on Friday to help do some work on his car with him. We fitted a new battery, reset the alarm and went to try and start the car, no joy! Nothing at all, no ignition, no fuel pump nothing. After much head scratching and fuse checking we worked out it was the Ignition module in the boot above the tank.

Today a new module found its way to TVR SLAG's house and he fitted it tonight. BUT. The car would start and run fine but as soon as the ignition was switched on the wipers and washers are on all the time, with the hazards! WTF??? The radio will not switch on and the boot will not open!!!

On the phone to him tonight he reset all the control boxes, checked all the fuses (again) still doing its own thing!

Anyone have any ideas??

Any ideas at all?

Doh!

Glad Fluffy fired up, but is the new problem not the alarm going crazy?

Sounds like what happened to me with the old car, hazards, wipers all going off randomly.

I'm sure Darren has tried the 4 second reset and at this stage, who knows what Fluffy's up to?!

When I replaced the battery on our Cerb, on turning on the ignition, the headlights & wipers came on. Turned out to be a fuse had blown (can't remember which though - sorry). I usually remove every single fuse to check if it's blown or not, as sometimes they just crack, so you can't see it's blown with the fuse still in situe....

Good luck !

You'll need to get in your boot and replace a fuse - yep, just one fuse controls all of that!!! Ours went last year just as the car was lined up for scruteneering - somehow we managed to get it through the scruteneers!!- but once back in the paddock we replaced the fuse. I cant for the life of me rememeber which one, but I can find out tomorrow (dads asleep). Sounds like your Cerb might have a similar fuse box to ours (there are a few different ones out there strangely).

If you are taking fuses out of the cerb to check them PLEASE REMEMBER TO LEAVE THE CAR IN NEUTRAL!!!!! believe it or not, theres one fuse which if pulled out causes the starter to turn continually!! Gotta love the TVR electrics!!

Lessons learnt in time and all that torque...

Thanks for the post BCA, I have checked all the fuses with a FLUKE several times, checked the relays too!

It seems as if it is getting a live feed to earth through the ignition box.

We need to spend a little time sorting this one out, me thinks!
