Lumenition Optronic vs Pertronix Ignitor - any views?

I have a 1979 Lotus Eclat which is fitted with Lumenition Optronic.

I have a really strange and annoying fault condition and i wonder if anyone could offer me any advice please. I haven't used the car for many years (because of this problem), but I'm going to have another go. The car starts and runs fine - I go a certain number of miles (approx 15-20 miles in 20-30 minutes) and the car cuts out completely and refuses to restart. I leave it for (say) 30 minutes, and it starts fine, runs fine, and takes me home. But it will repeat this whole thing the next time I take it out.
I replaced the coil, the plugs, the HT leads, the battery, the fusebox - no change.
I replaced the Lumenition Optronic and it seemed to have gone, only to return about 6 months later.
Because I seem to have replaced almost every electrical component, I find myself wondering about a dodgy earth (because Lotus's are fibre-glass, they are famous (infamous) for having dodgy earths). Would/could a dodgy earth (perhaps over time) damage a Lumention Optronic system to the point where it would start breaking down?
I'm considering switching to Pertronix Ignitor - has anyone used it and what are your views and where can I get it in the North West?
