I did have a Lexus is220d that I sold last week. It was a nice car but it was very boring and not very economical (for a diesel).

So I thought, I'm getting the negatives of a diesel without getting the main benefit of great economy. Plus I wanted to free up some money, so it went.

The lexus was my first rear wheel drive car and I was amazed with the difference it made and vowed my next car would also be rear wheel drive. In my budget, this restricted me quite a lot but a browse of the Internet last night unearthed a local 1995 BMW 328. It fitted the bill perfectly and at £1150, was a bargain I thought.

Anyway, apologies for the meandering story but I've just got home from collecting it and wanted to share. I'm on my phone at the moment so pics to follow.

Thanks for reading guys and I look forward to getting to know the Beemer lot :-)

Great stuff, what is it a coupe, saloon, touring?

I owned a coupe 328i sport along time ago now and wish I'd never sold it now.

It's a coupe.

I hate the regret of selling cars. Though I do think previous cars are a bit like ex girlfriends in that you tend to look back on them through rose tinted glasses and forget their faults. :-)

Welcome to the club, these are really great cars but as with everything you’ll have to just service it and it will reward.

You’ll be told about the 325i manifold swap, new induction, freer exhaust and also Z3 quicker rack as worthwhile improvements. I would love to update my own car but spend all my time on my other project. They are great cars and very rewarding drivers.

What colour is yours? Did you get the rear folding seats?

Well I have also joined the club. Managed to find a low mileage (39k) 1996 Coupe. Loving it so far.

The only issue with the car is a slight bit of rust on both rear arches. This isnt too bad though and is purely cosmetic.

I've not done too many miles yet but I'm very impressed. The car feels so solid and everything works perfectly. I don't know whether it's me having got used to diesel clatter but the engine is virtually silent on tick-over. I have to look at the dials just tocheck i've not stalled it :-)

What an engine. It sounds fantastic. I don't know why I didnt dip my toe into a cheaper older car years ago. So much money wasted on depreciating cars! Never again!
