Looking for a bit of help....I know this has been asked before but things change.

I'm looking for a sat nav with the following requirements;

1) Budget under £300

2) Large screen 4.3" seems fairly common. Would prefer 5" and above

3) Live traffic services would be useful but not essential

4) Quick start up of system

5) At least a couple of hours battery life

The more I look the more confused I get with what the latest versions of Tom toms are!!

So far I have the following as options;

Garmin Nuvi1490TV

Tomtom XXL

Tomtom XLlive

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

tomtom 550 fits the bill. It has live traffic and includes a free 12 month subscription. Speed cams are crap but you can get a decent database from pocketgpsworld.com

The 550 looks the same as the XL etc but it has a few features such as better battery, autozoom and nightmode that you wont want to be without. Also the 550 has google map search with auto routing. So for example you want a coffee shop. Google maps search gives you the nearest ones, click on one and satnav takes you there.

Only having only used the TomTom 550, all I can say is that it gets me from A to B without any fuss, I dont need camera stuff, or phone stuff, just a straight forward A to B

It fits the bill for me.

cheers guys,

I've narrowed it down to the Tomtom 550 or the new 1000.

Garmin 1450T also looks good,
