Any Le Mans 'speeders' PLEASE READ!!!
Discussion
This is a follow up from my last post: I FELT LIKE A RIGHT C**T!!
Major DVLA cock-up has occured yet again. Anyone who had there license conviscated by the French plod and has not yet received it back must read this. I phoned the DVLA on Saturday to order a new license which i was told by them in August would be no problem. They informed me that i am no longer a British license holder because i swapped it for a French license in June, WTF!!!!!!!!!!! My license was sent back to Swansea with no covering letter, so some DVLA t
t decided that it must be because im now a French citizen and therefore not eligable for a UK license. I can't believe they did not send me a letter or phone me to confirm the reason for having my license sent to them. I am on the system as being a European driving license holder which of course i'm not, should be interesting if i get a tug! I have to wait until tomorrow to see if i can have this taken off my record and get another UK license, could be a letter to Watchdog me thinks!!
I hate the DVLA; this is not the first time they have messed up. Just thought i would give you a heads-up.

You're going to write a letter to Watchdog about the French Police and the DVLA?
"Dear Watchdog, Earlier this year I showed an absolute disregard for the laws of a foreign country......"
Good luck with that. I'm not whiter than white ,esp. when it comes to speeding, but man up buddy.
That's not what he said though was it? "Dear Watchdog, Earlier this year I showed an absolute disregard for the laws of a foreign country......"

LOL, Watchdog.
........"I was doing 200kph on a French motorway and the police confiscated my license. Now the DVLA have messed up and I'm not happy"
Maybe you should rethink. I'm not judging the Le Mans thing you guys get up to but reckon you should just take it on the chin and accept it like you do with the fines etc. when you take the trip once a year.

People from abroad (certain countries) can apply for a UK license (Hong Kong, EU countries etc) can apply/swap their current license for a UK license for free if they do it with in 12 months of arriving in the country. Surely you could do this and whilst doing so include a copy of your British passport to prove you are a UK citizien.

I think you are missing the point.
No. You are. You are still paying the consequences for your actions in France. And if you decide not to inform your insurance company you may pay even more if you have to make a claim and they find out they can decline due to your non disclosure.PaulHogan said:

I did - the one you posted the other week where you told us all that you had been stopped for speeding and had your license taken off you. It was also the one where you commented about how much this had affected you and that you then hadn't driven your car for a number of months. Edited by Beemer billy on Sunday 19th September 20:50
Someone at the DVLA has made a mistake, big deal. You can't really blame them for the French having your license in the first place, or for the French sending it back without an explanation. Apologies if my attitude does not please you but I have little sympathy as you are the root cause of your own problems.
When I was younger I worked in customer services and we would happily give out the number for Watchdog to misguided fools like you in the hope that one day we'd get to see you on TV.
Sounds like the French plod have pulled a fast one, obviously pissed off with all the Brits thinking they could speed with no consequences.
Why would the DVLA say it's a French license unless the police over there changed it,got any copies of anything you signed?
Good luck with this one, but I reckon you've got a fight on your hands
