Car reg numbers on telly

Why do they blurr out car number plates when they show on telly? I could look out of the window and see lots of them driving past!

mmm can only think that due to video etc a cars number plate is easier to view, on the street they are moving?

Have no idea otherwise...other then legal.

Dont they have to ask people if it is OK that they appear on TV before they show them? If they say no then they are blurred out. Works the same for plates.

Thats what I had guessed.

Also if someone was supposed to be somewhere else and there car is spotted in the wrong place it could case all sorts of trouble.
