Can get for just over £4k with 5 year warranty BUT I have always had Pan / Sony
Anyone in the biz / seriously clued up that can make a good case not to buy it ?
I will use 2D more than 3D and the streaming facility is a major factor but Im nervy of Korean kit (naive maybe)

Thing is this does all I want and the Mrs can use it, I am techy and can handle a projector (can get them trade even) but for the everyday tv watching I fancy this but Im wary it might be overstyled crap with ots of features and a poor pic.
No-one seems to have one on display but Im working on it

£4K?
More money than sense if you ask me, but seeing as you weren't, then if you've got that sort of bread to throw about, it's a no-brainer - Panny 54Z1 or 50/65VT20 Plasma.
Nice looking set, which all fair credit to Samsung, they do make, and the remote's a bit nifty looking too - long term though could be a very different kettle of chips.
Panny or someone's cast off Pioneer KPA500.

Its an awesome set, 7k is stupidly priced, 4k is very expensive for a TV but if you have it to spend then good for you. This set does actually feature local dimming wich does make a big difference to the picture and the remote control lets you watch (or preview as they call it) another channel. Bear in mind that you either buy it with a ped or a wall bracket and all of your connections are on the ped/wall bracket none are on the TV, it still suffers with the same image processing errors that the standard LED's have. If you are going for the bling factor then go for it, if you want just an awesome TV then go for the Panna 50/65VT20

There is one on display in Martin Dawes in warrington No-one seems to have one on display but Im working on it

1, I like a good tv and dont mind the investment as we will get good use from it
2, I agree Samsung isnt a normal high end answer hence the topic / thread
3, I will go to warrington and have a look BUT you see some crap on display and is it fair to judge
4, Im a pan (comms) dealer and may get a deal on a tv - will check - could swing it
Appreciate the input

Wise move! A Samsung at that price is a lot of money ... it's competing with much better products frankly. A customer of ours insisted on buying one after seeing one in the states ... we had already bought and installed 3 x 32" Philips, 2 x 42 Philips Ambilight TV's and two bathroom TV's within the previous 6 months.
As above, I think you need more money than sense to consider one!

We deal with John Lewis service and have nothing but complaints from their customers reguarding being left with faulty/wrong TV's for days on end. Yes at the end of the day they will replace your TV in the 5 year period but for some people the road is long. You would be much better getting your panna from a local dealer, the Panna 5year warantee is a real Panna one so it will be fixed within the dealer network not just swapped out eventually by a salesman who dosent quite know what he is doing yet

I got the pan and its being delivered friday am, free blu ray player and aI also got some speakers Q Acoustics TV2 that strap to the back of the TV with a sub - its not HiFi but its not bad
Im an online retailer (and a Pan dealer) but didnt fancy getting it online in case of hassle, the 5 year warranty is only from dealers and by redemption so they are trying to protect B&M dealers from net sellers
Called sky to activate 3D (took 2 mins to get through and do it - very impressed) and its active - 2 pics side by side for now lol
In future I will set up a home cinema with a projector - maybe in a few years

They had the Samsung 9000 series 55 inch LED up at circa £4500 and the Samsung 8000 series 55 inch LED up at circa £2200. One above the other.
Mistake.
I must say even as someone who has spent a good five figures on AV I was impressed. But, to be frank, I could not see what I was getting for double the price at all. Sure I could see a subjective *slight* difference in picture, but, without showing me which was which I could not tell you which was the 'better'.
Both had the '3Dish' quality that LCDs have where movement in the foreground seems to be 'hyperreal'. By that I mean 'realer than real' like a great sense of depth but it was all two depths foreground *or* background and even more hyped than reality.
I've noticed this on a number of LCDs is this a function of the image processing? I'm not sure I like it at all. Or at least I'd have to get used to it.
On the other hand, the 65 inch 3D Panasonic plasma at £4500 looked perfect to me, but pricey for that you can get today. The image seemed much more natural, or, it was just similar to what I was used to (plasma).
Plotty, and others, is this usually the case?
