Helmet for £300?
Discussion
I am trying to decide on which helmet to buy. I want to spend around £300. I want a helmet which will tick all the boxes for MSA events, so i wont need to upgrade in the future. I drive a TVR T350 at the moment so will be for closed cockpit driving.Im not sure if in the future i may go for some open top driving, so will rule out the Sparco helmet below, which i like the most at the moment. My one concern i have is buying a helmet with a visor which will spend 99% of the time up. I have narrowed it down to the 3 below. Any other helmet ideas are welcome.

Why?These are excellent. Both my son and I use them and they meet all your MSA reqs.

I got a full face helmet because you never know when someone will offer you a passenger lap in their caterham.
I took a mate out in my westfield the other week and he didnt have a visor on his lid - just wore his glasses - ended up with hot rubber stuck to his face

I'm also very pleased with mine. I've tried so many different helmets I'd started to think I'd never find one that fits, but this one is definitely the best so far, snug enough fit and very comfortable.
Glad you're pleased with yours and cheers for the recommendation V8mate

If you are running a car with a proper screen then I would always go open face, so much cooler in a hot car.
My choice would be which ever is the most comfortable and that meets the criteria that yoy need, try some one as different makes suit different head shapes.
Id advise against whilst understanding the motivation, unless youre running in a car with a full harness (and all this entails/requires) and wearing goggles. My choice would be which ever is the most comfortable and that meets the criteria that yoy need, try some one as different makes suit different head shapes.
Youre wearing the lid in case of an accident, so it would be foolish to overlook the other possible risks when it goes green blue green blue green blue green black.
Id sooner spend £300 on an Arai or Shoei 'bike (as derided by those reciting forum wisdom)' helmet than on a Chinese Snell2015 approved lid, too. The latter will be alright, but the former will be better.
