Buy a big pick-up with LPG conversion - Dodge Ram etc.
It'll do everything that your Merc estate does and be able to tow your TVR to the garage when it breaks down
For some reason I really like this

Just change the LPG tank for a 200ltr one and your sorted ...

i seem to be effected by bond movies... last weekend i was lusting after an Alfa GT-V6 and this weekend im lusting after a late 80's Corvette C4. such a lot of character and performance for the money!

worryingly, while searching for a decent pic i found this...
kinda puts you off the whole americana thing

First choice is the Challenger but this is the sort of thing that is bought & rarely used.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2052168.htm
Second is the Charger, lovely cars & at the price you could actually enjoy using it.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1323131.htm
Third choice is the Eldorado because I think it would bring a huge smile to anyone's face.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1899501.htm
Fourth is the Chevelle as it looks like it's a goodan with a lot of time & care gone into it.
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1322245.htm
Then the Camaro, I like these but alarm bells are ringing looking at the pics. If the guy has "owned this car for the last 27 years and have spent lots of time and money slowly rebuilding it" then why does the engine bay look like it does?
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2017082.htm
Finally this, Hell no! Truly ugly & would be similar to driving a stretch limo with an appalling turning circle which would very quickly become tiresome.
