I'm looking at different options for the placement of the heater water valve. I don't want to mount it in the luggage containers, but want to make sure it is accessable for maintenance or repair.

Has anyone installed the heater water valve somehwere else?

Don’t go under the dash.
Too warm for your knees in case of failure.

The only other place I would consider mounting it would be along the rear bulkhead where both pipes cross from left to right before going into a 'H' piece.
Why don't you want to mount it in the sidepod? - it doesn't get in the way.

Why don't you want it in the luggage containers? It's out of the way, safe in case of failure (bar some wet luggage perhaps) and is errr... supposed to be there?

I put mine about three inches from the side outlet on the water pump. The short hose length makes for a good "mount".

I mounted my heater control under the dash for the folowing reasons;

1. I personally have never seen a heater hose burst. Leak maybe, but never burst.
2. Have you ever tried to remove a heater hose that has been on for several years? Unless you have good access, they are very difficult to remove, such as hidden in a luggage container.
3. Where I have the valve, under the dash, it can at least can be seen if it needs to be attended too.
4. These are just my opinions, I may be wrong, but I'm happy with them!!

I agree with Jack, leaking valve is possible but catastophic failure rather remote. It makes for a far neater installation of the pipes in the luggage boxes.

Mine is under the dash just after the pipes come over the side rail.
