Number Plate onto retention, how long to get V5 back

I'm Selling my car and need to know how long its taking the DVLA to get the V5's back to the owners.
Transferring my plate onto a retention certificate (putting the orginal number back on the car)

any recent expereince???

I got confirmation of the new registration number, the retention certificate, and new MOT and tax disk within a week.
The replacement V5 came through another week after that.

ETA: this was at the start of this month.

You're actually transferring your private plate off before you've found a buyer? Wow. I wish more sellers did that!

Just done this in the past month, it took about a week.

If you go to the DVLA office to do the transfer, do they give you the original plate certificate and tax disc straight away and then the V5 arrives later?

(Yes I know it may not be the original plate)

Nope. They just take the paperwork and payment, and send them off elsewhere to be processed.
