2004 RR Vogue TD6 71k FSH.

Noticed a juddering while driving along at slow speeds, took it to garage and had the master technican come out for a drive. He said nothing wrong, stop worrying.

3 weeks later stuck at the side of the road, no drive.

Monday, quote for 4k to replace gearbox.......Great.

Dealer called LR Customer Service for a contribution, they said no.

annoyed that i noticed the problem and they said nothing wrong before i got stranded. Even more pissed off as replaced gearbx oil about 5 months ago as a preventative measure for this kind of thing.

i'd get a second opinion. £4k for a new box. could proberbly get one reconditioned for much less. try phoning around some gearbox/ transmission specialists.i know of a few in essex if you are in this area. i gave up on main dealers years ago. there arnt many good dealers any more.
good luck!

A rebuild by an auto gearbox specialist should be a lot less than the cost of a brand new box.The other alternative is a secondhand unit from a written off car.

I just put a reconditioned box into a TD6. Cost £1500 plus VAT......I think!!!

Don't know where you are in the country but try Automatic Man in Acton if you are near London.
