lumpy power? diagnosis welcome
Discussion
Ok,
So the other day I balanced the throttle pots, engine idle and reset adaptives + throttle.
Done this before so no drama, car to be honest didnt really need it but I like to keep her tip top.
Out today running beautifully, pulled over and switched her off while I made some calls.
Time to go, ignition on etc, she sparks into life, but felt lumpy.
Pulled away and I had what I can only describe as a miss, very lumpy and then cut out.
Started again, and drove her to a safe place but had to tease it there gently with the revs.
So I am then thinking, call the AA or get my lappy and tools up here somehow.
About 30 minutes had passed so decided to give it go before I made any more decisions.
Sparks into life and is perfectly fine again, driving beautifully.
No fault codes, oil pressure perfect and water too.
Anyone care to throw a few suggestions about please?
D
edit: I forgot to mention that I vented the fuel tank, and it was obviously cooler when she had been sat for 30 minutes.

Funnily enough mine did exactly the same this evening. Stopped on the way home to go in the shops for half an hour, and then was a right pig out of the car park. Coughing, spluttering, stalling, job to start. No tick over so had to hold on the throttle about 2000rpm (which frightened the shoppers
Always happen when you make a short stop when it is hot. Cause is fuel evaporation, and needs a good run to clear it again.
Anyone got any remedies to make the effect less bad ?

I have that problem with the cerbera. It only happens when the fuel is a bit low. It's caused by the fuel getting hot and evaporating in the fuel rails. The fuel flows continually on these cars so in normal circumstances when the engines running all the hot fuel gets pumped back to the tank and fresh cool fuel pumped up to injectors. When the fuel is low the same fuel gets circulated around much more often and never gets chance to cool down in the tank, hence evaporation and bubbles in the fuel rails. Only happens if I'm down to the last quarter, it's a warm day and I get stuck in a long traffic jam or park it up stinking hot and try to drive it again within a few minutes. For me the solution is to keep it well topped up.
I was speaking to one of the East Mids guys last week - he had an intermittent misfire and it was a broken wire in the loom - the injector feeds are soldered together inside the loom in 2 sets of 3 - one of the wires had broken off. I've also seen this previously posted on here too IIRC.
A little update,
Car drove faultless again, this time I kept the laptop plugged in too monitor stats etc.
I also reset the adaptives again because of the previous days lumpy syndrome.
Once up to temp etc, all the stats were bang on.
I did however use a different garage for fuel on the "lumpy day", I normally use v power from shell, but that day I used the high octane stuff from total.
I also remember as posted above the fuel was low so I am thinking this "fuel evaporation" had been going on.
Glad to here I am not the only one.
