M25 last friday Dartford, saw the Trident Iceni demo for the first time on the road. What a great looking, sounding car. It was in a colour similar to cystal topaz and looks very "speed 12" from the front and pretty good elsewhere. Let the guy drive past a couple of times and had a great exhaust note. Pictures don't do it justice and I really hope it succeeds.
It's not actually very expensive to have bespoke windscreens produced. Tooling is free if Pilkington (on the Isle of Sheppey) think that there will be a market for ongoing production and a screen can be under £200. If you want a one-off it depends on the complexity of the design, but even a complex, deep curvature screen (such as that on an Ultima)is only around 2k.

My account seems to have gone west Ted ? Or is it just that I can't remember my password...

I think the Iceni is fantastic looking car. Some how combining the feel of a modern TVR's 'ikcle sister with the visual muscle of the evergreen AC Cobra....
...and the roof concept is brilliant. The glass panels can be removed from the longditudinal roll hoop without affecting the rigidity if the car. Such a good idea infact that that pig ugly Skyline concept completely ripped it off.
Looks like old Eric B will get to build his beloved Lolas again, even if they go incognito.
Mouse.

I believe they were going to use the old GM V6 but it was discontinued and they started the 3.0 V6 development. I pre ordered one at the last NEC Motorshow and haven't really heard anything since apart from a letter which stated the above engine change.
The orange car at that show really got me going and the £30K price (ish?) should steal some TVR customers. I would have got one but they took too long and now the Tuscan S is soon to be mine!
Also I think they are dropping their variable exhaust cans. It could change the sound from a V6 to a V8!

Have you the contact details for (and any influence with) this branch of Pilkingtons? I may need bespoke glass (front, sides and rear) in the near future.....
I just hope they dont use that picture for the promotion of the car - the ASA will be down on them like a tonne of bricks (just like MG).
Cant have those blurred backgrounds you know... make you think that it might actually be moving..
Cheers,
Paul
P.S. Actually looks OK in the picture too.

I stand corrected on the engine front. Its a while since I seriously looked at the car's spec's.
That picture is straight out of the official gallery, and I think it says everything that needs to said about the car (bar a sound track). I had it for wall paper on one of my computers for quite a while, but it been bumped for my own lil' Bear-Cub.
My suspicion, sadly, is that this kind of site will be the best/only advertising they get, which is a shame.

I see a silver one most mornings on my way to work in Norfolk (They are based near Fakenham, a small market town.
And every morning it never seems to be doing less than 80 making a rather sexy noise but I've never seen it parked on the side of the road with the bonnet up!! And Trident have the cheek to call it a British Sportscar!

Regarding the engine, the prototype I tested for Pistonheads had the latest 3.2 litre GM V6, though there were musings about maybe doing a V8 option. Or maybe not.
Regarding windscreens Zertec, I think it was Pilkinton who let Trident down, initially agreeing to supply and then deciding they couldn't be bothered. Trident are now getting them made in Italy - just like several other British specialist car manufacturers. Can try and get contact details if you like.

I have vague figures from Pilkingtons of about 3500-5000 pounds for setup costs and 200-300 pounds per screen but they aren't interested in doing curved side glass (I suppose that is why TVRs have flat side windows).
Any info and contacts would be much appreciated.

) - I'm not entirely sold on the looks, but it's a hell of a head-turner
