Hi,
I have another automotive problem besides the Ax MOT failure, this one is "inherited" in that the patient is my Dad's '91 T4 camper.
Problem is that the electric cooling fan circuit had been fiddled with - it is a two-stage system with the fan switch in the radiator header tank. Linking out the switch gives three modes: off, half-speed both fans and full speed one fan.
Oddly the three relays on the RH of the radiator cowl have numbers printed on the top as though to indicate circuit function, there are (IIRC) two 97s and a 98 yet all of the relays are the same type.
Does this sound correct?
There also seems to be a thermostatic control for louvre blinds on the back of each fan which I haven't seen before (spend too much time on Land Rover products) does this sound correct?
The "owner's manual" doesn't help much with the cooling system - the electrical side shows only one fan which appears to be controlled by an ECU, possibly the engine management on the petrol version.
