The company I work at offered on the intranet a recruitment referral bonus, with extra if they had one of a list of key skills.

I referred someone with one such skill.
They were employed.
After they started work the company removed his particular key skill from the list on the intranet.
Company then paid me one full salary month after he started, with standard referral bonus as expected but without the key skill bonus.

I've queried it with HR. Assuming they come back to me and say it's no longer a key skill and as such they won't pay it... do I have a leg to stand on?

Probably.

But please, just suck it up. You got money for nothing, and if you kick up a fuss then you'll be marked as a troublemaker.

hehe

Thought as much. It is a couple of thousand though and there's a chance I might be made redundant within weeks.

It's a tough one, maybe go in for a chat but with a laid back attitude, maybe "interested" as opposed to "desperate" for the money may work.

Yeah, I've sent them an email just asking them if it was an oversight. We shall see. Thanks.

Got a reply today and they've agreed to pay up.

Slightly softens the blow of being told this morning that I'm not going to get a pay rise, which is a first for me.
