Friend has just purchased an 840 with BBS wheels fitted. They're not kerbed, just tatty as water has got behind the lacquer. Does anyone know of any wheel restorers that will do the job properly, and not just paint the rim?

First Class Alloys in Lichfield - I haven't had my wheels done by him, but I have seen his work and it looks really good. Everything is done in-house, and they do the proper acid-dipping, sandblasting etc to get back to the metal before refinishing.

Just let him split the rims himself rather than giving him extra work by snapping off a few bolts when doing it yourself to save a fiver a wheel wink

Cheers chaps. Will pass info on. I guess he may well go with the Wrexham lot as I dont think he will be able to split the wheels himself.

Hope all well Mike!

I can strongly recommend a place in south wales called renowheel for your split rim wheel refurb. I know it's a bit of a treck but in my opinion, they are the best in the business.
I've seen plenty of their refurbs over the years and all are better than the factory finish.
They fully strip and polish split rims, repair and refinish diamond cut rims and their paintwork is fantastic.
Well worth travelling in my opinion.

You misinterpreted my sarcastic comment about splitting the rims himself! First Class Alloys would prefer to do it; when I was there I saw the result of an owner's botched attempt to do it, hence the comment...
