....apart from seeking a better dietician would you want MS driving for you next year? I think I would be looking for a replacement! I am sure that he has brought lots of publicity to the team at the start of the season but this must be beginning to tail off as MS seems unable to get any decent results and people aren't watching with expectancy any longer...

Norbert will keep him until halfway through next season, and get him to retire then if his performance hasn't improved with the new car.
So Norbert should be getting the Mercedes reserve driver hired and primed for such an eventuality.

Depends on how competitive next year's car will be.
If it is still off the ultimate pace of Red Bull/Ferrari/McLaren (which is more than likely) then hell yeah....they need to keep Schumacher, otherwise the team/sponsor media coverage will be nearly nil.
Schumacher has been an absolute god-send for that team this year. With the car not being a race-win contender, imagine how much media coverage that team or their sponsors they would have got otherwise?!

If I were Norbert I'd be pretty happy. Nico's doing well (may even win in Singapore)...Schumacher is generating column inches, Quick Nick has a ride for 2011 and I have Di Resta with miles under his belt in a team using my engine and Paffett champing at the bit to get in there too.
I'd imagine that if MS hangs up his boots (I think he will see out 2011 and retire then if it isn't going well) Heidfeld has a strong chance of a drive.
Sutil is an outside bet given his nationality and Medion money.

And seeking a better dietician?! I'd say in the current field MS would still be the fittest by some margin, no one in the sport took fitness as serious as he did and i'm sure that habit hasn't died out yet.

Norbert is stuck with MS. He generates publicity, he gets the badge on TV. Despite the fact that Rosberg's outdriven him all season, compare how many interviews there are of each.
Whatever reason MS came back to F1, the reason Merc wanted him was for publicity. And this he has delivered. It's like the Sky News weather girls: they are not picked for their ability to forecast if it is going to rain tomorrow. i bet there are some fat, short, older women who could do it a damn sight better.
And so it is with MS. Merc want airtime. They've got it. They were never going to win the championship this season, or the next. The bean counters at Merc were not going to let them spend the money. But along comes MS, the purses are emptied onto the table.
At one time during the German GP I wondered if it was the 2005 USA GP, but this time with five fewer cars. Mind you, in essence there were five fewer cars anyway.
