Side Window Problems

Hi Guys,

i havent had a good look at it yet but my passenger side window will not go down when you press the button to enter or exit... but the door opens.
The window will still go down on the switch so the motor and window mechanism is fine.

I'm thinking micro switch first that tells it where the window it. Anything else that could cause it?
does the magnet pick up on the bottom of the door have anything to do with it???

It has a new box a few month back due to that door not opening.

Hi, you ve got the same problem as me, but mines on the drivers door.

Your control box thinks your window is already wound down and fires the door lock.

Thats as far as ive got with the problem, im going to check the wireing in the next week or so.
i reckon there must be a broken wire or the micro switch in the door has had it.

I've got the same problem on the passenger's side. Haven't really had a chance to look at it properly, other than to check all the connections in the door, which all seem fine.

Where is the micro switch and what activates it?

A couple of things to check -

- unplug the jack plugs inside the door, spray them with contact cleaner and put them back together

- check if the micro-switch is ok (it's located towards the front end of the glass, accessible while the door inner panel is off)

- check the window control box in the boot, located above the tank, for a dry-joint or even dampness (make sure to mark the position you take the jack plugs off of).

There may well be more things that cause the problems described ablve but these are the things that caused those problems for me.

Micro switch or the connector in the door sounds favorite to me....

I'm a bit slow on this one but i had a problem on my drivers side door not opening it turned out to be the button on the mirror But whilst the door panels were off i lubed all the connections and final got my plugs the wrong way round and blew the black box which cost me all the doors and windows whilest out for the weekend so be careful as Ireland Says

Ive spent the best part of the day fixing this problem.

Turns out ( in my case ) that the mirco switch earth wire had broken in the wiring loom between the door and the wing.

I did nt fancy removing the door to run a new wire in the loom, so i piggy backed the earth wire from the door mirror button.

Job done it works a treat.

I also chain lubed the window mechanism and adjusted the micro switch, and the window winds up twice as a fast and goes further into the rubber seal.

Playing around like this, I hope you don't live up to your name, cerbs are rare beasties!

Just before I bought mine Mike had the same problem, ran through all the usual suspects, turns out it was the control box in the rear of the car was broken, replaced by topcats and all was well.
