I have worked in admin for BT for 22 years in manchester and since 2009 I have worked in bolton for vertex on the csa contract. I was earning £16.5 k in manchester but now earning £14.5k in bolton and at first my savings were very good but now with all the price rises and bill rises I really want to be earning around 18k or more.
I am 43 and have great experience on the telephone, working in large groups and computers and use them every day using spreadsheets and doing contact centre work.
I have been applying for jobs since 2009 and got nowhere near an interview.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good firm to work for who would be interested in me in the northwest area, bolton, bury, oldham, manchester as i live in bury?

This is the point I would focus on, you have a long employment history with a well known major company, posses the correct skill set and experience for the jobs you are applying for... thus you should be getting interviews, the fact you haven't got near an interview you should be focusing on why.How have you been applying for jobs? If one of your skills is "experience on the telephone" use your strengths and call companies, if your looking for a job in an area that you've previously worked then you'll probably know the names of competitors? give them a call ( unless your current contract forbids you working for competitors etc )
Use your dinner/break time to call, and evening and weekends to fill applications/internet applications, make a note of application deadlines and follow up your application, while the majority of the time you'll get a response of "we'll contact you if successful" you may impress someone who will offer you an interview there and then.
Make sure when sending a CV you send a well written cover letter, get someone else to proof read it for spelling and to make sure it doesn't give the wrong impression.
Keep your CV to facts and a minimum, don't put DOB and if you put your email address make sure its not something like SxeGurl@hotmail\.com, the goal isn't to tell them as much as possible its just to get you to an interview, you can tell them your favourite movie once they've employed you.
While still applying for jobs in a sector you've previously worked, look at your skill set and how it could be useful in different roles elsewhere.
You mentioned you need to earn a certain amount, don't let that stop you applying for jobs that don't disclose the potential salary even if in the interview you find out its too low, its especially good to get interview experience as it will prepair you for when the perfect job's interview when it eventually comes along.
Make your facebook private, a potential employer doesn't need to know you are in a group called "I don't need anger management - I need people to stop pissing me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I'd remove the key skills section. I'm not sure it adds anything and when knowledge of Outlook appears at number one, I suspect it's selling you short. Perhaps add another short sentence to your profile about having used applications from x to y or something equally suggestive that there's more for them to interview you on if you want to keep some of the key skills in there.
It's also a very long education section for some, in the nicest possible way, modest results. I'd be inclined to cut it down to a few lines worth. You have plenty of experience so there's no need to put so much emphasis on this area.

My initial thoughts are: what jobs are you applying for? Bear in mind that there are a lot of people out of work who have experience and skills relevant to the jobs advertised so if you're applying for something slightly different, the employer has a lot of choice.

Yes I have been applying for admin/secretarial/officer/contact centre/solicitors/banks/estate agents/debt collection and big firms.
None have given feedback when I asked for it.

The only reason I wouldn't is because there are too many different educational establishments to list. It looks a bit peculiar. And as an employer unless it's a degree, I've never been bothered about the school an interviewee went to. Others may disagree, though...
You could try another agency, as they can get you jobs that can lead to more interesting jobs. An ex started doing temp work on a help desk for an IT company then became team leader after a couple of years, and 3-4 years later, ended up working for a very, very big computer company flying round the world training staff. It's all very Don't You Want Me (Human League) if I think about it.

You could try another agency, as they can get you jobs that can lead to more interesting jobs. Ooh promotion in our place is very unfairly based. Im a caseworker, the specialist (admin officer) gets £200 more a year and the managers get the same. the job can be very stressful and managers of each team set targets and we are expected to meet them and its not possible for anyone to meet them. If you are exceptional all the way through the year you get a bonus but that can be taken off you for any reason.
I have just seen a job for bt in the mcr evening news (outbound new business telesales associates) £15k to £22k. May not be ideal job even though I am confident on the phone but it gets me back working for BT and I could move on to another dept. So I need to do my cv this week and overhaul it.
