Nurburgring holiday help

Besides the obvious what else is there to do in the local vicinity besides hiking the Eifel region and visiting the castle?

Also thinking of doing a driving holiday visiting old/current tracks like Le Mans, Rouen, Reims, Spa: Stavelot, Malmedy. Can anyone recommend routes?

I would recommend going down to Cochem - beautiful town on the Mosel river with some good bars (where you can taste the local wines) and a proper fairy tale castle. Also all roads in and out of Cochem are excellent.

Also a trip to Koblenz to the Deutches Eck is well worthwhile - where the Rhine and the Mosel meet there is a massive monument built by Kaiser Wilhelm which is quite impressive.
