Urgent Help, Electrics
Discussion
I am moving house tomorrow and am taking the current lights from the front room. When taking them down i did not memorise the order that the cables went into the junction. Now i have found this link :

and wired it as per this, but when I turn the power back on I get a small flash and nothing working for these lights or the rest of the flat.
Any Ideas ?
Thanks

If you can get a pic it would help a lot, as it sounds like you've managed to sort out the light circuit when changing the rose over. If you take all the wires out you might be able to test them to see which is the permanent live feed for the circuit and then go from there, but it won't be easy or quick. In fact it may be best to bite the bullet and get a sparky in.
I went to someone's house today to look at their plumbing. Asked if I could put a light on to be told that they didn't work. Fair enough I though, must need a new bulb. I then found out that they didn't work in another room in the house.
Turns out that it wasn't the odd bulb that needed changing, it was that half the lights in the house didn't work! Someone had fitted a new kitchen light and wired it up wrong like yourself. The RCD kept tripping when ever they turned on the lights. A quick rewire of the kitchen light and all was working again for them.
They had had the problem for....over a year without getting it fixed. It's amazing what you can come to live with.
