Workshop/maitenance stand

Thinking about treating myself to a work stand for my bikes. Has anyone got and thoughts, and specifically, does anyone have the link to the stand-and-toolkit bundle that was doing the round a few months back? Dunno if it's still available - I've looked on the Evans, Wiggle and Park Tools sites.

I've yet to do any big stuff like changing forks or anything myself, but it occured to me that for the amount of time I spend doing it everything from lubing chains to setting up deraileurs would be easier on a stand than doing it with the bike upside down or lent against a wall.

Lidl are doing one next week for £29.99. Not sure how good it is, but worth checking out:

I bought one of these on recommendation from another forum.

I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is very well made and is a substantial bit of kit, far exceeding my expectations. The clamp rotates to suit angled top tubes or seat posts, whatever. It is very stable, even with a heavy bike clamped in. The clamp is well padded and I have had no qualms about putting my carbon bike into it.

The Lidl one looks very flimsy.

I can't find the link at the moment, but Decathlon do a very good stand for <£60. Better than the Edinburgh Bicycle Coop branded stand (made by someone else) that I have and costs around £90 IIRC.

I've had that stand for several years. Works very well for me, for general tinkering, tuning and cleaning. Recommended.

+1. folds up nice and need and very sturdy. You'll also want one of these to stop the handlebars flapping around.

The stand I have is the same but without the tool kit. It was Ribble I got it from, not Wiggle. It was £56 but I have seen discount codes that can save you another £5.

I have all of the tools I need frequently so would have paid £50 for tools I would probably never use.

The Ribble stand looks the business. I bought a similar style one from Argos. The rotating head is essential for sloping tubes and to put the bike in any aspect in order to work in comfort.

I would seriously suggest that bottom bracket replacement is not attempted using any sort of stand. Only professional quality ones can take the stresses involved - besides, you risk deforming the frame.

Can't see how any serious rider can live without a bike stand.
