Bit of an appeal for help here more than anything!!

My best mate (well, best mates wife) was taking her 10 month old shopping on Tuesday when some fking of a woman smashed into the back of their stationary car at about 30mph with the little 'un in the back of the car then proceeded to drive off.

Little 'un was rushed to hospital and kept in overnight but fortunately released with nothing more than a few bruises.

I really want to catch this so she can be prosecuted so I'm trying to find anyone that may have been near the big Tesco's in Burseldon, Southampton about 3pm on Tuesday and might have seen anyone driving off at speed with visible damage to their car? My friend doesn't know what car it was, she's not good with cars, but she did see it was a woman who looked to be about 50ish years old.

Sorry this isn't much info to go on, but if anyone did happen to see anything, please let me know so the old bill can sort this pond-life out.

Check wtich Tesco to see if anything was caught on CCTV chap. Anything's worth a shot. You could also contact local body shops to ask them to keep an eye out.

Good shout on the body shops, wouldn't have thought of that.

Police have said that she can't go to Tesco because any CCTV would be inadmissable as evidence against the driver for some reason that I can't fathom!

This. If she hit your friends wife at 30mph, the damage will be significant.

Who cares? At this stage you're trying to establish as much as you can about the car, I'd be banging enquiring politely at Tesco's door.

30MPH? I'm amazed the car was driveable after that sort of impact, let alone that anyone would drive away from that sort of 'bump'.

exactly the reason I refused to get a hatchback after the little one came along... too many feckless idiots out there updating their facebook status rather than watching the road ahead.

1) Police are wrong
2) Get CCTV at least to find out what the Reg is and present to their insurance company, they will accept this as evidence and also you can then ask them to inspect their clients vehicle to prove it.

Also worth posting in the relevant Regional PH forum?

Sorry to hear about this...

fk that. Go to Tesco, get the CCTV, get the number plate, and then "remember" what the number plate was. Easy.
